This work of art by José Gabriel Fernández could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art Online auction, the work Mariposa, 2003 changed hands for USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,087.08) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Despite this disappointing result, Mariposa, 2003 is the most expensive artwork by José Gabriel Fernández that we have observed at auction so far.
