Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Spanishin The Harem by José de Cala y Moya for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,846.42). This price was achieved in the auction European Paintings including The Orientalist Sale, Symbolism and the Poetic Vision and Spanish Painting at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by José de Cala y Moya have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2005 by the work The Visitors; And The Recital at GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,341.71).
