In March 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Spanish Los Invitados; El Recital: Una Pareja (The Visitors; The Recital: A Pair) by José de Cala y Moya. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,777.33), 56% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by José de Cala y Moya; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Visitors; And The Recital sold at auction in June 2005 with the realized price of GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,341.71).
