Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
This work without title by Jonathan Chapline was worth HKD 1,890,000.00 (€ 199,354.05) to a buyer in December 2020. This price was achieved in the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction at Phillips in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 500,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jonathan Chapline; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Image Gallery (Collecting and Transcribing) sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of HKD 1,890,000.00 (€ 224,383.56).

Die Arbeit ohne Titel von Jonathan Chapline war einem Käufer im Dezember 2020 HKD 1.890.000,00 (€ 199.354,05) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction bei Phillips in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 500.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jonathan Chapline; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Image Gallery (Collecting and Transcribing) im Mai letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 1.890.000,00 (€ 224.383,56).
