Auction result well in line with expectations
The work HMS Donegal , 74-guns, flying the flag of Rear-Admiral Sir John Ommanney, heading down the Tagus past the Church of Santa-Engracia, the river crowded with small craft including a Portuguese royal barge, and the vessel astern of the flagship almost c by John Wilson Carmichael was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2016. The price achieved of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,823.24) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Wilson Carmichael achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Opening Engagement At Trafalgar; H.M.S. 'Royal Sovereign' Raking The Stern Of The Spanish Flagship 'Santa Ana' in January 2018 with an auction result of GBP 237,000.00 (€ 270,601.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit HMS Donegal , 74-guns, flying the flag of Rear-Admiral Sir John Ommanney, heading down the Tagus past the Church of Santa-Engracia, the river crowded with small craft including a Portuguese royal barge, and the vessel astern of the flagship almost c von John Wilson Carmichael kam im Juli 2016 bei Christies in London zur Auktion.
