In the The Marine Sale auction, the work A busy shipping channel with a frigate-built ship, a fishing boat and other shipping sold for GBP 3,570.00 (€ 4,257.10) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Wilson Carmichael achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Opening Engagement At Trafalgar; H.M.S. 'Royal Sovereign' Raking The Stern Of The Spanish Flagship 'Santa Ana' in January 2018 with an auction result of GBP 237,000.00 (€ 270,601.06).
