Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October this year Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work The newly commissioned Newcastle barques Favourite and Majestic passing in the approaches to South Shields, with the ruins of Tynemouth Priory atop the cliff beyond by John Wilson Carmichael. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 35,840.00 (€ 41,154.28), 19% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Wilson Carmichael have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Opening Engagement At Trafalgar; H.M.S. 'Royal Sovereign' Raking The Stern Of The Spanish Flagship 'Santa Ana' in January 2018 with an auction result of GBP 237,000.00 (€ 270,601.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The newly commissioned Newcastle barques Favourite and Majestic passing in the approaches to South Shields, with the ruins of Tynemouth Priory atop the cliff beyond von John Wilson Carmichael zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 35.840,00 (€ 41.154,28) und damit 19% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Wilson Carmichael auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Opening Engagement At Trafalgar; H.M.S. 'Royal Sovereign' Raking The Stern Of The Spanish Flagship 'Santa Ana' im Januar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 237.000,00 (€ 270.601,06).
