The work The Tired Danseuse by John William Godward was sold in the British & European Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2019. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 175,000.00 (€ 192,138.36), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John William Godward have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Far away thoughts in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,049,250.00 (€ 1,294,016.65).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The Tired Danseuse von John William Godward wurde im Juli 2019 in der Auktion British & European Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 175.000,00 (€ 192.138,36) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John William Godward auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Far away thoughts im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.049.250,00 (€ 1.294.016,65).
