This artwork by John William Godward achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in July this year. In the British and European Art auction, the work The Tiff sold for GBP 94,500.00 (€ 110,252.86) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Godward achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Far away thoughts in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,049,250.00 (€ 1,294,016.65).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John William Godward erzielte im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and European Art wurde die Arbeit The Tiff für GBP 94.500,00 (€ 110.252,86) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John William Godward erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Far away thoughts im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.049.250,00 (€ 1.294.016,65).
