The work Wreck at Seaton by John White was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2000. It achieved a price of GBP 977.50 (€ 1,599.60), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 63%. Admittedly, works by John White have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sketches of some of the Various Classes and Tribes inhabiting the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope and the Interior of South Africa in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 15,735.94).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 977,50 (€ 1.599,60) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 63%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John White auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sketches of some of the Various Classes and Tribes inhabiting the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope and the Interior of South Africa im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 15.735,94).
