Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Evening, Church Farm, Branscombe by John White was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2000. The price achieved of GBP 747.50 (€ 1,223.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John White achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sketches of some of the Various Classes and Tribes inhabiting the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope and the Interior of South Africa in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 15,735.94).
