The work Porta Salaria, Rome by John 'Warwick' Smith was sold in the Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian auction at Sothebys in London in March 2017. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,222.73). Admittedly, works by John 'Warwick' Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work St. Cosimato And Remains Of The Claudian Aqueduct: Situated On The River Anio, 10 Miles Above Tivoli, In The Apennines; And Port Of Terracina, And Ruins Of Anticul Anxur, Situated On The Confines Of The Roman Territories, Entering The Kingdom Of Napl in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 16,100.00 (€
