Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Skiddaw from Lodore, Derwentwater, Cumberland by John 'Warwick' Smith was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,283.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John 'Warwick' Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work St. Cosimato And Remains Of The Claudian Aqueduct: Situated On The River Anio, 10 Miles Above Tivoli, In The Apennines; And Port Of Terracina, And Ruins Of Anticul Anxur, Situated On The Confines Of The Roman Territories, Entering The Kingdom Of Napl, which sold at auction in December 2007 for GBP 16,100.00 (€ 21,8
