Auction result well in line with expectations
The work On the outside of Cairo by John Varley Jnr. was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2003. The price achieved of GBP 705.00 (€ 1,079.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Varley Jnr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British the Mosque Of Khair Bek, Cairo in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,721.28).
