Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction Travel & Exploration, which included the work A Street Scene In Japan by John Varley Jnr.. The price achieved of GBP 1,275.00 (€ 1,483.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Varley Jnr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British the Mosque Of Khair Bek, Cairo in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,721.28).

Im September 2021 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Travel & Exploration durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Street Scene In Japan von John Varley Jnr. zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.275,00 (€ 1.483,48) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Varley Jnr. erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit British the Mosque Of Khair Bek, Cairo im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 16.721,28).
