Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2006 Sothebys in London held the auction Marine Art, which included the work The Amazon Entering The Harbour Of St Lucia; The Amazon In A Hurricane; The Amazon Shipwrecked by John Thomas Serres. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 50,400.00 (€ 74,799.91). Other works by John Thomas Serres have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 121,810.76) in February 2005 for the work Shipping off Lisbon, a seventy-four Third Rate passing two small craft as she heads out of the Tagus into a squall, with an anchored British frigate off her port beam and the Belém Tower receding astern.

Im Dezember 2006 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Marine Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Amazon Entering The Harbour Of St Lucia; The Amazon In A Hurricane; The Amazon Shipwrecked von John Thomas Serres zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 50.400,00 (€ 74.799,91) einen neuen Besitzer.
