The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,584.82), 67% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Syer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Salvaging A Wreck, Dunstanborough, Northumberland, which sold at auction in September 2004 for GBP 9,560.00 (€ 13,927.71).
