Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work The Badlands by John Steuart Curry. The price achieved of USD 25,000.00 (€ 17,754.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Steuart Curry have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Preliminary Study for a Mural: Oklahoma Land Rush in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 175,500.00 (€ 149,158.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Badlands von John Steuart Curry zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 17.754,42) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Steuart Curry auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Preliminary Study for a Mural: Oklahoma Land Rush im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 175.500,00 (€ 149.158,59).
