Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Morning Star by John Simmons was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 26,581.20). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Simmons - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Titania asleep: a scene from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', Act II, Scene ii, which sold at auction in December 2016 for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 65,765.38).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Morning Star von John Simmons im Juli 2015 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 18.750,00 (€ 26.581,20) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von John Simmons mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Titania asleep: a scene from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', Act II, Scene ii beobachtet, die im Dezember 2016 für GBP 56.250,00 (€ 65.765,38) versteigert wurde.
