Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Arrested Vehicle Silver Upholstery by John Salt was auctioned at Il Ponte in May 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 15,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at EUR 100,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Salt; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot "School bus and red pick-up" sold at auction in November 2012 with the realized price of SEK 1,000,000.00 (€ 115,372.79).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Arrested Vehicle Silver Upholstery von John Salt im Mai 2021 bei Il Ponte versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 15.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 100.000,00 mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von John Salt; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit "School bus and red pick-up" im November 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von SEK 1.000.000,00 (€ 115.372,79).
