Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work St Abbs, Evening by John McNairn was auctioned at Sothebys in London in August 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,321.75). Other works by John McNairn have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2008 by the work Borders Landscape at GBP 4,750.00 (€ 6,042.21).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit St Abbs, Evening von John McNairn im August 2007 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.600,00 (€ 5.321,75) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von John McNairn wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Mai 2008 die Arbeit Borders Landscape mit GBP 4.750,00 (€ 6.042,21).
