Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mimih Spirit, c.2007 by John Mawurndjul was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne in August 2021. The price achieved of AUD 9,840.00 (€ 8,338.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Mawurndjul - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Kunmadj (Dillybag), 1996, which sold at auction in November 2020 for AUD 36,900.00 (€ 30,883.83).
