Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Button Sage by John Marshall Gamble was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 28,160.00 (€ 25,980.26). Admittedly, works by John Marshall Gamble have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shore Coryopsis in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 182,000.00 (€ 214,470.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Button Sage von John Marshall Gamble im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 28.160,00 (€ 25.980,26) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Marshall Gamble auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Shore Coryopsis im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 182.000,00 (€ 214.470,89).
