Auction result misses estimated price range
In April this year a collector was able to acquire the work River Movement, Lower Manhattan by John Marin for USD 119,700.00 (€ 108,423.91). This price was achieved in the auction Modern American Masterworks from the Ted Shen Collection at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Marin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lobster Boat, Cape Split, Maine in April this year with an auction result of USD 1,925,500.00 (€ 1,744,112.32).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Marin erzielen.
