Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction American Art, which included the work West Point and Vicinity by John Marin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,160.00 (€ 11,147.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Marin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lobster Boat, Cape Split, Maine in April this year with an auction result of USD 1,925,500.00 (€ 1,744,112.32).
