In July 2017 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art, which included the work The potato field - Isle of Wight by John Linnell. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 50,000.00 (€ 55,792.32), 67% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Linnell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Return of Ulysses in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 171,650.00 (€ 250,603.59).

Im Juli 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The potato field - Isle of Wight von John Linnell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 50.000,00 (€ 55.792,32) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Linnell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Return of Ulysses im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 171.650,00 (€ 250.603,59).
