Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Linnell could be acquired at Christies in New York in February 2024 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & British Drawings auction, the work Portrait of Jessie Wedgwood (1804-1872) changed hands for USD 1,260.00 (€ 1,101.21) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Linnell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Return of Ulysses in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 171,650.00 (€ 250,603.59).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Linnell konnte im Februar 2024 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings wechselte die Arbeit Portrait of Jessie Wedgwood (1804-1872) für USD 1.260,00 (€ 1.101,21) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Linnell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Return of Ulysses im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 171.650,00 (€ 250.603,59).
