The work A lady, in black and blue Louis XV robe à la française, white lace cap with blue ribbon bow, powdered hair by John Jules Nimmo was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in December 2008. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,100.58), 67% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Jules Nimmo; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Comte d'Escars, full face in dark green coat with crimson piping and silver-embroidered crimson collar, silver epaulettes and lacing, white shirt and black stock, the silver buttons engraved with crowned initials 'C', wearing the Royal French Orders sold at auction in November 2000 with the realized price of GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,840.98).
