This artwork by John Jules Nimmo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2004. In the IMPORTANT GOLD BOXES,OBJECTS OF VERTU & PORTRAIT MINIATURES auction, the work A young boy, in lace-bordered bright-blue dress, fair hair sold for GBP 2,031.50 (€ 3,048.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Jules Nimmo; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Comte d'Escars, full face in dark green coat with crimson piping and silver-embroidered crimson collar, silver epaulettes and lacing, white shirt and black stock, the silver buttons engraved with crowned initials 'C', wearing the Royal French Orders sold at auction in November 2000 with the realized price of GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,840.98).
