Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2006 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Pictures, which included the work A Breezy Day Off Lindisfarne; And Ruins On The Coast, Waves Crashing On The Foreshore Below by John James Wilson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 336.00 (€ 490.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John James Wilson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fishing in the channel in July 2002 with an auction result of USD 9,560.00 (€ 9,759.09).

Im Mai 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Breezy Day Off Lindisfarne; And Ruins On The Coast, Waves Crashing On The Foreshore Below von John James Wilson zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 336,00 (€ 490,45) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John James Wilson erzielen.
