In November 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES, which included the work On The Coast At Etretat, France by John James Wilson. The result of GBP 3,000.00 (€ 4,407.38) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John James Wilson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishing in the channel, which sold at auction in July 2002 for USD 9,560.00 (€ 9,759.09).
