Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by John James Audubon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the American Art auction, the work Coot sold for USD 214,200 (€ 175,660) - well above the upper estimate of USD 100,000. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John James Audubon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work in June 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,650,000 (€ 8,264,109).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John James Audubon erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit Coot für USD 214.200 (€ 175.660) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 100.000. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John James Audubon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.650.000 (€ 8.264.109).
