In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures 1500-1850, which included the work Portrait of Captain Lyon, RN (1795-1832), half length, in a fur-trimmed coat, holding a gun by John Jackson. The price achieved of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,088.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Other works by John Jackson have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April 2007 the work Portrait of Antonio Canova (1757-1822), half-length, in a black coat and white cravat was auctioned for GBP 9,600.00 (€ 14,055.64).
