Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures 1500-1850, which included the work Cupid asleep in a woodland clearing by John Jackson. The price achieved of GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,739.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Jackson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Antonio Canova (1757-1822), half-length, in a black coat and white cravat, which sold at auction in April 2007 for GBP 9,600.00 (€ 14,055.64).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Pictures 1500-1850 durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cupid asleep in a woodland clearing von John Jackson zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.350,00 (€ 3.739,59) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von John Jackson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Antonio Canova (1757-1822), half-length, in a black coat and white cravat beobachtet, die im April 2007 für GBP 9.600,00 (€ 14.055,64) versteigert wurde.
