Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Gentleman by John Hoskins was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,184.42). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Hoskins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A gentleman called Inigo Jones, in black gown, white lawn collar with tassels, black skull cap, long curling brown hair, moustache and small pointed beard; pillar and landscape background with castle in the distance in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 36,500.00 (€ 51,109.44).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A gentleman called Inigo Jones, in black gown, white lawn collar with tassels, black skull cap, long curling brown hair, moustache and small pointed beard; pillar and landscape background with castle in the distance im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 36.500,00 (€ 51.109,44).
