Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by John George Brown achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in August 2020. In the American Art Online auction, the work Waiting for a Bite sold for USD 17,500.00 (€ 14,661.53) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John George Brown achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Thrilling Moment in January this year with an auction result of USD 819,000.00 (€ 754,282.56).
