Auction result well in line with expectations
In January last year Sothebys in New York held the auction The European Art Sale Part II, which included the work Dear Old Grannie by John George Brown. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 8,990.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John George Brown achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Thrilling Moment in January this year with an auction result of USD 819,000.00 (€ 754,282.56).
