This artwork by John George Brown achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2020. In the American Art Online auction, the work Girl With Kittens sold for USD 118,750.00 (€ 107,670.69) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by John George Brown have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Thrilling Moment in January this year with an auction result of USD 819,000.00 (€ 754,282.56).
