Auction result misses estimated price range
In January last year a collector was able to acquire the work The Timber Wain by John Frederick Herring Senior for USD 18,900.00 (€ 16,856.94). This price was achieved in the auction The European Art Sale Part II at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Herring Senior achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Start for the Derby, 1834 in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 1,105,600.00 (€ 1,632,212.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit The Timber Wain von John Frederick Herring Senior für USD 18.900,00 (€ 16.856,94) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The European Art Sale Part II bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Herring Senior erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Start for the Derby, 1834 im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.105.600,00 (€ 1.632.212,62).
