Auction result well in line with expectations
The work At The Forge by John Frederick Herring Senior was sold in the British and European Art auction at Bonhams in March this year. The price achieved of GBP 5,737.50 (€ 6,527.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Herring Senior achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Start for the Derby, 1834 in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 1,105,600.00 (€ 1,632,212.62).
