In December 2012 Christies in London held the auction Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work At the start, Newmarket by John Francis Sartorius. The auction ended at the price of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,332.78), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00. Other works by John Francis Sartorius have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in October 2005 the work Pheasant Shooting; and Partridge Shooting was auctioned for USD 19,200.00 (€ 16,006.67).
