Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Autumn Landscape by John Francis Murphy was sold in the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in September 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,294.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Francis Murphy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Autumn Afternoon, which sold at auction in June 2000 for USD 28,200.00 (€ 29,544.26).
