Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life with Apples, a Basket and Chestnuts by John F. Francis was sold in the Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in December 2004. The price achieved of USD 130,700.00 (€ 96,543.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John F. Francis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life: Yellow Apples And Chestnuts Spilling From A Basket, which sold at auction in December 2008 for USD 374,500.00 (€ 269,056.69).
