In January 2008 Christies in London held the auction The Sunday Sale - Property from the Collection of the Late J.S.Goddard, removed from Camp Hill, Baldwin Estate, Staffordshire, which included the work Chelsea Pensioners feeding birds by John Eyre. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 812.50 (€ 1,089.19), 63% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Eyre - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Great Hall, Royal Hospital, Chelsea, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 2,400.00 (€ 3,564.55).

Im Januar 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Sunday Sale - Property from the Collection of the Late J.S.Goddard, removed from Camp Hill, Baldwin Estate, Staffordshire durch, in der auch die Arbeit Chelsea Pensioners feeding birds von John Eyre zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 812,50 (€ 1.089,19) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Eyre mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Great Hall, Royal Hospital, Chelsea beobachtet, die im Juli 2007 für GBP 2.400,00 (€ 3.564,55) versteigert wurde.
