Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work Through the Woods by John Edward Costigan for USD 59.75 (€ 44.14). This price was achieved in the auction THE HOUSE SALEALL LOTS OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 200.00 – 300.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Edward Costigan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sheep at the Brook in September 2011 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 32,530.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember 2004 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Through the Woods von John Edward Costigan für USD 59,75 (€ 44,14) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion THE HOUSE SALEALL LOTS OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 200,00 – 300,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Edward Costigan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sheep at the Brook im September 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 32.530,30).
