Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work Portrait of a lady seated outside a grotto (illustrated); and An illicit meeting with the musician by John Edmund Buckley. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 720.00 (€ 1,075.74) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Edmund Buckley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dartington Manor House, Devon in December this year with an auction result of GBP 3,840.00 (€ 4,423.53).
