Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of David Papillon (1691-1762), full-length, with a bow and arrows and his dog, in a landscape by John Closterman was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2016. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,614.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Other works by John Closterman have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2008 the work Portrait Of Isabella Willis (D. 1727) was auctioned for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 22,120.59).
