In October 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction British & Continental Paintings, which included the work Near Llangollen, North Wales by John Clayton Adams. The result of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 5,744.26) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Clayton Adams - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The harveters return, which sold at auction in May 2000 for USD 17,625.00 (€ 18,894.73).
