Auction result well in line with expectations
The work British Harvesting Wheat by John Clayton Adams was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in February 2019. The price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,492.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Clayton Adams - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The harveters return, which sold at auction in May 2000 for USD 17,625.00 (€ 18,894.73).
