Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled, 1960s by John Christoforou was auctioned at Bruun Rasmussen in April this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of DKK 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for DKK 11,000.00 (€ 1,475.63). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Christoforou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Panique, 1973 in June 2009 with an auction result of EUR 15,990.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled, 1960s von John Christoforou im April diesen Jahres bei Bruun Rasmussen versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von DKK 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für DKK 11.000,00 (€ 1.475,63) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Christoforou erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Panique, 1973 im Juni 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 15.990,00.
